Warm Fuzzies This Week

This week I have had to work in Manly for a few days. Although I wasn't looking forward to the long trip from my apartment, I have to say I have thoroughly enjoyed the trip each day.
Firstly, on the bus I actually get to just sit for thirty minutes, which trust me, doesn't happen very often. Then I enjoy a fifteen minute ferry ride across the harbour. Sydney really does have a stunning harbour. The first day I saw 4 dolphins and today a stunning sunset. Look out tomorrow!

On the bus trip I have been reading my new book, The Creative Entrepreneur, which is a guide to creating a visual diary to help you create a business plan. Now that I have actually read some of the book I can say that I am quite excited about getting started. To get me warmed up I bought some acrylic paints from a nice man in Manly today. I was on the look out for the perfect visual diary book but I just didn't find THE ONE. She and I will know each other when we meet.
I must say I am surprised how nice the people are in Manly and I am surprised that that surprises me as it never used to, which means I used to talk to more nice people.

Something else that has made me smile this week is the Frankie Magazine. I don't buy a large number of mags as most just don't inspire me, but FRANKIE, oooooooooo she is my new love! Where has she been all my life? Something about the styling, photography and the whole presentation reminds me of my childhood in some way. I even set a reminder in my phone for the next issue date!
Today on the Frankie blog I found some wallpaper downloads. There are a few very cool ones there, so pop over to the site and download your own pet Blythe doll to stare at you all day, make you smile and remind you that it's just a job not your life.

It All Starts Here

Well, where to start! I have been putting off my first post for a while now. There's a lot of pressure on a girl for her first post, but I guess I have to start somewhere. At least I've worked out how to use it! Ha!

So, for those of you who will actually read my first post, which will be difficult as I'm not telling anyone about it, here goes.

My name is Sasha and I am slowly turning into my mother! Two years ago I wasn't crafty at all (my mum is), in fact I was convinced there wasn't a creative bone in my body. What started out as just something to do, has now overtaken my lounge room.
I mainly sew bags but I also dabble in screen printing when I can get the screen to work and on the odd occasion I make myself an outfit.

Fabric is my inspiration and addiction and I love trotting down to my local fabric shop and browsing for hours. This is made easier by the offer of minties, cups of tea and the lull of 1950's (a guess) French music.

I hope to fill my blog with helpful tutorials, cool podcasts, insights in to my journey along the small business road and whatever else takes my fancy.
I make no apologies for spelling or grammar errors as I will have plenty.

So my first thing I want to tell you about is the podcasts I have listened to lately (link on page). I love downloading these and listening to them on the bus or whilst sewing. They offer great inspiration and good tips if you are starting your own crafty business.
Amy Butler and Anna Maria Horner are two of my favourite fabric designers. So if you are in to these gals I'm sure you'll enjoy the podcasts with the kooky Jennifer Ackerman-Haywood.

There, now that wasn't so bad was it?
